These activities are essential for maintaining water quality, preventing erosion, and supporting biodiversity. In order to understand the watershed structure and its role & importance, this center established Watershed model for benefit of farmers, visitors etc.
Herbal Garden: Herb garden is type a garden designed and maintained mainly for growing herbs. Having a herbal garden allows for easy access to fresh herbs and encourages natural, organic living. They can be tailored to meet personal needs, whether for culinary, medicinal or purely aesthetic purpose. Herbal gardens can help raise awareness about traditional knowledge and the usefulness of medicinal plants.
Vermicompost Production Unit: Vermicompost is an organic compost produced through the decomposition of organic matter, such as food scraps and plant waste, by earthworms. This process, called vermicomposting, transforms organic waste into nutrient-rich soil, commonly referred to as “black gold” by gardeners for its valuable contribution to soil fertility.
Vermicompost is widely appreciated for its environmental benefits, its role in organic farming, and its ability to improve soil quality, making it a sustainable alternative to chemical fertilizers.
Backyard Poultry: Backyard poultry production is an enterprise with low initial investment but higher economic returns and can easily be managed by women, children and elderly persons of the households. Villagers who cannot afford to maintain other livestock can presumably maintain few backyard chickens. Rural poultry farming is often considered to serve as a starter capital to move out of poverty. These provide high value food and income. Rural poultry production is being recognized as important component of socio-economic improvement among the weaker sections of society; especially landless labour, small and marginal farm women’s households. Rural poultry rearing generates self-employment, provides supplementary income with protein rich food at relatively low cost. Desi birds are generally reared in Free range or extensive system or Semi-intensive system.
Vertical Garden (Tower Model): Vertical garden is an innovative way of gardening that allows plants to grow upwards on a structure, rather than spreading across the ground. This approach is ideal for small or urban spaces, as it maximizes the use of vertical space. The tower model is a vertical garden concept which occupies very less space to expand the scope for growing vegetables in a vertical space with cost effective through natural farming practices.
